WOOD CARVING

Many people are surprised and ask why a Russian woman does woodcarving in the Indian style. For me, this is primarily a tribute to the traditions of those who lived long before the arrival of the white man in these lands. These traditions are very rich and represent love for land and nature. Each element is a symbol, a sacred language, and for some, a religion. Native American craft is very symbolic and metaphorical, which is why it attracts me. Using just a few elements, you can tell the whole story about the creation of the world, the relationship between good and evil and the bonds of generations.
